We have 2 technical cameras in our rental.

- First is  Cambo’s Wide DS Digital series is the ideal photographic tool for the demanding architectural photographer. The set has been designed for digital photography with high-end digital backs and features Schneider’s latest Digitar lenses with short focal lengths for optimum image quality.We have either Hasseblad H or Contax 645 mount for digital backs. Included is 35mm, 55mm lens from schneider-kreuznach and a 72mm from Rodenstock.

- second but not least is the Cambo Ultima II – The precision Cambo Ultima was the very first view camera designed for the highly sensitive requirements of digital camera backs. This revolutionary camera offers many features that will directly benefit today’s digital photographer, no matter which brand of medium format digital back they are using. Also here several digital backs can be mounted. Included in the kit is also 3 schneider-kreuznach lenses, 38mm, 80mm and 120 mm.

Both camera has its own peli-case for easy transport.

We love HDSLR at THE LAB, at Photokina we saw soooo much stuff, that we decided to buy a rig of our own. We chose the Extreme Rig  by manufacturer DVTEC.

The rig has a shock absorbing waist support system.The Support kit adds stability, and takes all the load from the hands. It acts like a “Third Hand” to allow the photographer to free one or both hands for focusing, zooming and operating the camera controls.

We are using the RedRock follow focus system, and its working out perfect.

It is very easy to assemble, it comes in 9 parts, and takes under 3 minutes to have ready.

We have a few effect machines in our rental.

Snow Machine, Hazer – ( thin smoke ), Soap Bubble machine, Smoke machine ( fat smoke ) , and a little nifty hand-held smoke machine.

We are happy to announce the opening of studio 4 and 5 , these two amazing 400m2 (combined) studios situated on the ground floor. They both come with the following specs:

- 100 / 300 m2 studio – located on the ground floor
- 6m ceiling height
- 380 Volt / 32 amp
- Kitchen facilities, espresso machine, soft drinks
- Make-up and styling station
- Sound system and WIFI

There’s a gate between the 2 studios, it is closed, but can be opened to combine the 2 studios into one!

In our rental we have a Elinchrome 74″ Octa light bank, its more or less like the Profoto Octa 5′ and the 3′ – just BIGGER.

The best thing about it, is that it comes with a Profoto-mount

The 74″ Octa Light Bank features a rotating speed ring mount for exact angle positioning, spring loaded self-locking struts for fast, easy set-up, and durable snap fasteners to quickly attach the inner diffuser.

It has a double diffusion design for extra soft, even, wrap-around light, great for portraits.

Props at THE LAB…

At the studio we keep in stock a lot of different props. We love old backdrops, chairs and sofas and old wooden floors.
We also stock a variety of wooden boxes, which can be painted in any color you may wish.

If you are looking for a particular prop-item, that is not in our stock, please do not hesitate contacting us, and we will try to help you by contacting one of our suppliers.

We are always looking for vintage chairs, old classics, worn out tables, carpets, floors, old telephones, fans, suitcases, vintage mirrors to expand our list of props.

For years we have had a couple of Profoto 1200w pro HMI, and we love them.  Unfortunately the Swedes stopped making them, because they did not believe in a market for portable daylight systems?!?

Ours has been rented out on a weeekly basis, and people tend to fall in love with them once they try them We have ours in a fancy pelicase for easy transport. These babies also mount the whole range of Profoto lightshapers.

On Photokina 2010, Profoto announced a new line of Daylight systems. A 400w and a 800w, they have mount for every single profoto light shaping tool around, they are also building a new fresh line of Octa’s and softboxes which is more heat resistant, specially made for the Daylight Air’s. We are looking so much forward to test this new piece of equipment. More info to come…

Here at The Lab, we keep building different sets for our clients. We take a lot of pictures, most of them never end up here, so from now on, im trying to post as many interesting things as possible. This is a set-build for an Ellos shoot. Check it out.

We are still reading our brochures from Photokina, trying to digest all the stuff that happend . There was so much equipment, lots of useful things to consider worth buying, trying, renting and building. This year the HDSLR rigs just popped out from every stand-corner, with even bigger monitors and boom arms. Hasselblad getting massive publicity with their Hasselblad H4D Ferrari Edition. Leica selling a stunning 500 items of their “special Edition M9 Titanium” at  a staggering price of €20.000 a piece ( 500 x €20.000= €10.000.000 ) the first night at photokina – just crazy.

We were personally pretty stoked about swedish Profoto making HMI daylight again, we have 2 old 1.2 kw Pro daylight in our rental, and they are still pretty cool. However the new Daylight is more compact, more silent and more useful for video and still photographers.

The Lab, drove to Berlin, with the van full of equipment to Team up with danish-born-NY-based photographer Marc Hom.

Marie Claire UK had hired him to do a story and a cover of actor Diane Krüger for their April issue. They also shot a video, and made an interview. Unfortunately the video was not embeddable on our blog, so please click on the link. Behind the scenes & interview

The shoot took place in an old dance-studio in Berlin, check it out, it amazing.
